Nokia's Marketting Strategy On Diversitfication Of Products Exposed

Nokia is one the largest mobile maker and has number of mobile phones in the market. The main back drop of Nokia is that it concentrates on bringing up new models neglecting loyalty to the existing models. Nokia can sell its product on the basis of one single feature. Most of the new Nokia phones have same hardware configuration and what changes is software version. Even in same software versions nokia reduces few features from one handset to another just to increase the sale of new handset rather than being loyal to privious model which the public has already purchased. For example Nokia 5800 Xpress music is one the largest selling phone in the market and instead of providing new features such as kinetic scrolling it gives this feature to new mobiles such as nokia 5530 which has less features than nokia 5800 xpress music but is more costlier. They just want to launch and sell new product rather than being loyal to old customer so that they shell out extra bugs on the new model leaving the old one offcourse you can earn more with new product rather than making an old one better.
In my opinion nokia should rather try to concentrate on making the existing device better rather than making new devices like apple.
Apple iphone is one the most successfull mobiles in the world which has greatly effected the mobile industry since the day of its launch from iphone 2G to iphone 3G and now iphone 3GS. what apple does is it try to make the same device bigger and better and the most important thing is that when ever it makes any software upgrade its device they do same to their already existing devices i.e. they always remain loyal to their existing customers. The recent software upgrade i.e. 3.1 OS for iphone has been upgraded to all its devices such as iphone 2g, iphone 3g and iphone 3gs already comes with 3.1 and the example of loyalty is that it has even upgraded its ipod touch to the new os.
Although certain features cannot to be added to old device because of hardware issue which is acceptable unlike nokia whose devices have same hardware components but they differ only in software features.
One thing nokia tries to do at its best is not to include all the features in one mobile and this is the thing on which apple concentrates and is successfull.
This strategy has made apple so succesfull that it is now one of the most leading mobile maker in the world.
Few examples of nokia's strategy are:
Nokia E71 which has all good features and lacks 3.5mm audio out.
Nokia 5800 Xpress music which lacks Kinetic Scrolling.
Nokia 5530 which has kinetic scrolling but lacks 3G.
All the High end Nokia phones has just 128 Mb of RAM.
All Nokia touch screens even the costlier ones has got resistive touch screen.
and the list goes on......
This is just my opinion other people can comment theirs................
